SANNZ organises a number of events locally and nationally throughout the academic year: Superstudio, sTutes, BBQs, lecture series, NZIA meet'n'greets...
Superstudio is the SANNZ flagship event. Superstudio started as a competition at University of Sydney and was made a national event in Australia by SONA in 2006. In 2007 Superstudio went international for the first time with the event beind contemporaneously held in Australia and New Zealand. Superstudio is a competition designed to encourage debate, critique and investigation into an architectural issue. It is also designed to allow students to engage with each other and with architects and designers outside the confines of normal architecture school.
sTute is an educational event providing an enhanced version of the tutorial that students would otherwise receive during a regular design studio. The formula is intentionally simple: students bring their own university work, organisers arrange for profile architects to be present, and over a number of hour-long sessions, students are afforded access to a diverse range of talented and respected architect-tutors.
